About Boutique Hotels Charleston

The Oxford Dictionary defines a boutique hotel as ‘a small, stylish hotel, typically located in a fashionable urban area.’

There’s some flexibility in what qualifies as a boutique hotel, but for us, it means a property that’s relatively small and personal in scale.

With few exceptions, the hotels we feature have no more than 150 rooms, with most having fewer than 100.

More importantly, a boutique hotel should have its own authentic character — a personality that sets it apart from chain hotels and complements the unique spirit of its city and neighborhood.

For us, a great boutique hotel in Charleston will be one that pays attention to details, from distinctive design and thoughtful decor to personalized, attentive service.

It’s difficult to say exactly how many hotels in Charleston could be considered ‘boutique,’ whether they officially use the label or not. But our mission isn’t to list every one of them.

In conjunction with Boutique Hotel Hub, our focus is on finding, reviewing, and recommending only the finest boutique hotels in Charleston, SC. We will update our selections each year to keep them current and reliable.

Some of the booking links on this site are affiliate links, which means we may earn a small commission if you make a reservation through them. Since we don’t run ads or accept paid listings, this is our sole source of support for maintaining the site.

This in no way affects the price you pay — nor does it influence our reviews or recommendations.

If you have any questions about our site or boutique hotels in Charleston generally, feel free to get in touch with us at our parent site; Boutique Hotel Hub.
